“On the Ledge” is a short film I made during my Filmmaking studies at the Israeli Open University. I’ve had some valuable feedback from my lecturers on the screenplay and the shooting breakdown.
The film got into 2 international festivals: the Dublin International Festival and the Near Nazareth Festival.
- At the Dublin Film Festival, my film ended up as a semi-finalist. But only the finalists were screened at the premiere.
- The NNF didn’t have a premier competition like Dublin’s. All films accepted into the festival were screened.
Summary
A frustrated young man visits a psychologist, only to find her standing on a balcony ledge, preparing to commit suicide. To save her, he becomes a psychologist to the psychologist and eventually learns they have a lot in common. However, a dark secret about the psychologist remains to be uncovered.

Context and Challenges
I wrote the screenplay for “On the Ledge” during my Filmmaking studies and got a lot of valuable feedback from the lecturers. The most difficult part to write was the middle. Most of the film happened in one location, so the dialogue had to carry the drama. To solve it, I asked the class to read the script aloud: each student was voicing a character. Hearing the characters speak helped me improve the dialogue and, eventually, find real actors to play them.
